Pharmacologically active 4-oxo-4H-chromen-2-carboxylic acids. Part III. Mechanistic aspects of the decomposition of ethyl 6-azido-4-oxo-4H-chromen-2-carboxylate
Abstract
The mechanism of the decomposition of ethyl 6-azido-4-oxo-4H-chromen-2-carboxylate in the presence of polyphosphoric and acetic acids has been studied. The probable participation of ethyl 6-(N-acetoxyacetamido)-4-oxo-4H-chromen-2-carboxylate is discussed, and evidence is presented which indicates that this compound rearranges intermolecularly prior to oxazolochromone formation.
