Pyrazines. Part III. Some nucleophilic substitution reactions of chloropyrazines

Abstract

Various displacement reactions of chloropyrazines with sodium methoxide, sodium benzyl oxide, sodium benzyl sulphide, sodium hydroxide, and potassium fluoride are reported. Several reactions already reported have been reexamined. The reaction of 2,3-dichloropyrazine with sodium benzyl oxide gives 2,3-dibenzyloxypyrazine in boiling benzene, but in boiling xylene the isomeric 1,4-dibenzylpyrazine-2(1H),3(4H)-dione is formed.
