SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
2-O-Methyl-D-lyxose (6) has been prepared by oxidation of 3-O-methyl-D-galactose (4) with a limited amount of aqueous sodium periodate and is enantiomeric with a sugar component of the antibiotic everninomicin D. A new synthesis of 3-O-methyl-D-galactose is described.
