Stobbe condensation with dimethyl glutarate. Syntheses of some polycyclic compounds

Abstract

Dimethyl glutarate has been successfully utilised in the Stobbe condensation with some typical keto-esters such as (1), (2), (18), and (23). The Stobbe products, isolated in reasonably good yield, have subsequently been utilised for the preparation of polycyclic compounds.
