Chemistry of tropan-3-yl ethers. Part I. Synthesis of tropan-3-yl ethers
Abstract
Tropan-3α-yl methanesulphonate reacts with sodium alcoxides or phenoxides to form tropan-3β-yl ethers with inversion at C-3. The reaction of 3α-chlorotropane with sodium phenoxides or benzyl oxide leads to tropan-3α-yl ethers. The configuration at C-3 of the alkyl and benzyl tropan-3-yl ethers has been established by chemical methods.
