Some oxo-complexes of molybdenum(IV) and (V) with 1,2-bisdiphenylphosphinoethane

Abstract

Complexes formulated [{MoOCl3(diphos)}](red and brown isomers), MoOCl2(diphos), [MoOCl(diphos)2]+, and [MoOCl2(thf)(diphos)](diphos = Ph2P·CH2·CH2·PPh2, thf = tetrahydrofuran) have been prepared and their structures assigned on the basis of analysis, i.r. and 1H n.m.r. spectra, conductivity, and magnetic measurements. Only [MoOCl(diphos)2]+ forms alkoxy-complexes, [MoO(OR)(diphos)2]+, with alcohols in the presence of sodium carbonate.
