Studies on bis(triphenyl phosphite)-π-cyclopentadienyliron derivatives and related complexes

Abstract

Complexes of the type [(π-C5H5)Fe{P(OPh)3}2L]+A[L = MeCN, EtCN, ClCH2CN, Me2NCN, CO, SO2, C2H4, PEt3, and P(OPh)3] have been prepared. Borohydride reduction of the cation where L = C2H4 gives the ethyl derivative (π-C5H5)Fe{P(OPh)3}2Et. Borohydride or phenyl-lithium react with the cation, L = P(OPh)3, forming the cyclopentadiene derivatives C5H4RFe{P(OPh)3}3, R = H or Ph respectively. The preparation and some reactions of the cation [(π-C5H5)Fe(diphos)CO]+ are described.
