Studies on bis(triphenyl phosphite)-π-cyclopentadienyliron derivatives and related complexes

Abstract

Complexes of the type [(π-C₅H₅)Fe{P(OPh)₃}₂L]⁺A^–[L = MeCN, EtCN, ClCH₂CN, Me₂NCN, CO, SO₂, C₂H₄, PEt₃, and P(OPh)₃] have been prepared. Borohydride reduction of the cation where L = C₂H₄ gives the ethyl derivative (π-C₅H₅)Fe{P(OPh)₃}₂Et. Borohydride or phenyl-lithium react with the cation, L = P(OPh)₃, forming the cyclopentadiene derivatives C₅H₄RFe{P(OPh)₃}₃, R = H or Ph respectively. The preparation and some reactions of the cation [(π-C₅H₅)Fe(diphos)CO]⁺ are described.
