Bis-π-cyclopentadienyl–molybdenum and –tungsten complexes containing sulphur, phosphorus, nitrogen or hydrogen ligands

Abstract

The complexes [(π-C₅H₅)₂Mo(SRMe)X]⁺PF₆^–(R = Me, X = Cl or Br; and R = allyl, X = Cl) have been prepared. They react with ligands L, forming the complexes [(π-C₅H₅)₂MoLX]⁺PF₆^–[L = PPh₃, P(OPh)₃, PPh₂H, 1,2-bisdiphenylphosphinoethane, P(Buⁿ)₃ or pyridine, X = Br; and L = PPh₃ or P(OPh)₃, X = Cl or I). Some analogous tungsten complexes are described. The complexes [(π-C₅H₅)₂M(PR₃)Br]⁺PF₆^–(M = Mo, R = Ph; or M = W, R = OMe or Ph) with sodium borohydride give the hydrides [(π-C₅H₅)₂Mo(PR₃)H]⁺PF₆^–.
