Influence of electrolytic dissociation upon rates of reactions. Part VI. Acceleration of reaction between chromium(II) and hydroxylamine by the sulphate ion

Abstract

The rate of reaction between dilute solutions of the chromium(II) aquo-ion and protonated hydroxylamine has been studied by several methods at 25 °C. The sulphate ion causes acceleration and this effect has been interpreted in terms of chromium(II) sulphate ion-pairing and the corresponding rate constant has been estimated. Results for dilute perchlorate solutions from 19 °C to 46 °C are also reported.
