Reactions of silica surfaces with boron halides

Abstract

The assumption that the hydrogen sequestering agents BCl3 and BF3 react solely with surface hydroxy-groups on silica is incorrect since these compounds will also strongly chemisorb on totally dehydroxylated silica.
