Reaction of oxygen with aryldihydropyrans

Abstract

Reaction of the aryldihydropyran (I) with oxygen in the presence of pyridine and acetic anhydride gives the enol-acetate (V) and its acetolysis product (VI) in a combined yield of 70%.
