The conformational analysis of saturated heterocycles. Part XXXVI. The rotamer populations of axial cyclohexylamine

Abstract

The dipole moments of cis- and trans-4-p-nitrophenylcyclohexylamine are used to deduce the rotamer populations of an axial amine group in the cyclohexane system as 66% with lone pair ‘in’ and 34% with lone pair ‘out’, corresponding to ΔG°= 0·70 kcal./mole.
