Analysis of the 193 nm system of tetrahydropyran

Abstract

The 193 nm system of tetrahydropyran has been photographed under moderate resolution. A vibrational analysis has been carried out which shows that the upper state is non-planar and a number of upper- and lower-state frequencies have been determined. The infra-red spectrum has been obtained in the vapour phase and some of the fundamental vibrations have been shown to be totally symmetric by their appearance in the electronic spectrum. The rotational envelope of the electronic bands shows that the transition is mainly C type. All the data are consistent with the 193 nm transition being the lowest allowed transition and being a A′â†A′ transition.
