A reinvestigation of the structure of indophenine. Some new evidence

Abstract

The structure suggested by Steinkopf for the indophenine pigment formed by reaction between isatin and thiophen, has been confirmed by an examination of the n.m.r. and mass spectra of the reduction products formed by the action of zinc in acetic acid and by desulphurisation with Raney nickel.
