1,2,3-Benzothiadiazole. Part VI. Investigations on the quaternisation of 1,2,3-benzothiadiazole and 1,2,3-benzoselenadiazole

Abstract

3-Ethyl-1,2,3-benzothiadiazolium bromide, prepared by direct synthesis from 2-aminophenyl benzyl sulphide proved to be identical with the compound previously obtained by quaternisation. The higher alkyl quaternary salts have been prepared by use of the alkyl esters of 2,4-dinitrobenzenesulphonic acid. Methyl and ethyl quaternary salts of the unstable base 1,2,3-benzoselenadiazole are reported.
