Nitramines and nitramides. Part XV. Some novel nitro-compounds prepared during a search for N-nitrohydrazines

Abstract

Nitration of NN′-dibenzoylhydrazine does not yield NN′-dibenzoyl-NN′-dinitrohydrazine, PhCO·N(NO2)·N(NO2)·-COPh as reported in the literature, and our evidence shows that the produce is αα-dinitrobenzyl benzoate, PhC-(NO2)2·O2CPh. Four other examples of this type have been prepared; we also report a molecular compound of p-toluic acid with 4-methyl-3-nitrobenzoic acid.
