Reactivity of Mannich bases. Part XII. Ring alkylation of aromatic and heterocyclic compounds
Abstract
The reactions of ketonic, naphtholic, and indolic Mannich bases with numerous aromatic and heteroaromatic substrates have been studied. Convenient routes to 3-aryl-1-phenylpropan-1-ones, aryl-(2-hydroxy-1-naphthyl)-methanes, and aryl(indol-3-yl)methanes are described. The structures of the new compounds have been verified chemically and by i.r. and u.v. spectroscopy.
