Infrared spectra of some phenothiazine sulphones
Abstract
The i.r. spectra of a number of substituted phenothiazine sulphones have been determined in the solid state in KBr pellets. Some of them have also been investigated in dilute solutions in CCl4. The antisymmetric stretching vibrations are always the most strongly affected by passing from solution to crystalline state. The influence of the heterocyclic SO2 group on vibrations of the 3-substituents in the moiety has also been reported. A useful correlation between the substitution pattern and the C–H out-of-plane deformation bands has been noted.
