Weak chemiluminescence from the thermal decomposition of benzoyl peroxide in pyridine

Abstract

The weak chemiluminescence of solutions of benzoyl peroxide in pyridine, alone and in the presence of fluorescent additives, was studied. Possible mechanisms are considered, but owing to the weakness of the emission the primary reactions producing the excited species remain unknown.
