Oxidation by peroxydisulphate: a kinetic study of the oxidation of ethylene glycol, glycerol, and sorbitol by peroxydisulphate

Abstract

The uncatalysed reactions of peroxydisulphate with ethylene glycol, glycerol, and sorbitol were investigated kinetically. The reactions are of the first order in peroxydisulphate and of zero order in substrate concentrations. The kinetic nature is discussed and the rate law is deduced from a suggested mechanism.
