The acidity of weak carbon acids. Part II. A correlation of substituent effects

Abstract

Correlations of the acidities of weak carbon acids in the fluorene and related series with simple molecular orbital calculations and appropriate linear free-energy relationships are reported. An explanation of the effects of the alkyl groups on the acidities of 9-alkylfluorenes is presented.
