Oxidative addition reactions of cationic iridium(I) complexes of the type [Ir(CO)x(PMe2Ph)5-x]+, where x= 2 or 3, with hydrogen halides, hydrogen, chlorine, methyl halides, 2-methylallyl chloride, or mercury(II) halides have been studied. In most cases the stereochemistry of the product was determined by use of 1H n.m.r. and i.r. spectroscopy.
