Gas-phase Raman spectra and resonance fluorescence spectra of some halides of germanium, tin, lead, and tellurium

Abstract

Gas-phase Raman spectra of GaCl2, TeCl2, and SnCl2 are reported. For PbCl2 and PbBr2 normal Raman spectra can be obtained in the presence of an excess of halogen. The results obtained prove that these molecules are bent in the gaseous phase. Resonance fluorescence spectra of SnBr2, Snl2, and SnCll show only progressions in the deformational modes. A normal Raman spectrum of SnBrcl is reported, which shows this molecule to be bent.
