Molecular polarisability. The conformation of bispyridinezinc(II) chloride as a solute

Abstract

Dipole moments and molar Kerr constants are reported for bis-(NNNN′-tetramethylethylenediamine)zinc(II) chloride and bispyridinezinc(II) chloride as solutes in dioxan and in benzene. The data are interpreted to provide information on the preferred solute conformation of bispyridinezinc(II) chloride and on the incidence and stereospecificity of solute-benzene collision complexes.
