Vibrational spectra of acetylacetone and its anion

Abstract

Vibrational spectra of acetylacetone and [2H2] acetylacetone are reported and assignments given. Raman spectra of the acetylacetonate anion were obtained; it is concluded that C2v symmetry prevails in aqueous solution although the conformation of the anion in the solid state differs from that in solution.
