Oxides and oxyions of the non-metals. Part XIII. Electron spin resonance studies of the PO42– radical and related species in γ-irradiated phosphates

Abstract

The radical PO42– is thought to be product of the action of γ-rays on calcium tungstate crystals doped with phosphate. The e.s.r. data together with those for the related radicals O3PF- and O2PF2 are used as a guide in the interpreation of the e.s.r. spectra obtained from a wide range of phosphates after exposure to γ-rays at 77 K.
