Nuclear magnetic resonance studies on fluorine-containing compounds. Part II. Reactions of niobium pentafluoride with organic donor molecules

Abstract

Two new compounds of niobium pentafluoride, MeCN,NbF5 and Me2NCHO,NbF5 have been prepared. l.r. and 19F and 93Nb n.m.r. studies on these and other niobium pentafluoride adducts with simple organic donor molecules have shown that in the 2 : 1 adducts the product is NbF4L4+NbF6 and that in the 1 : 1 adducts the product is very probably NbF5L.
