Electronic states of simple dielectric liquids
Abstract
This paper reviews recent studies of both the excess electron and bound electronic excited states of simple dielectric liquids. It is argued that exciton states in liquid Ar and like substances have long enough lifetime to be observed, and that they are aptly described using a combination of the Frenkel and Wannier exciton representations. Further, it is suggested that an excess electron in liquid Ar undergoes an extended state → localized state transition as the density is lowered.
