Effect of hydrophobic interaction on the rate of aminolysis of p-nitrophenyl acetate by decylamine

Abstract

The self-catalysed reaction of decylamine with p-nitrophenyl acetate is at least 200 times faster than the corresponding reaction of ethylamine.
