Dealkylation of methyl isocyanide in platinum complexes of this ligand

Abstract

Suspensions of (Et3P)2Pt(CNMe)Cl+Cl– or (Ph3P]2Pt(CNMe)X+X–(X = Cl, Br) in benzene under reflux yield the complexes (Et3P)2Pt(CN)Cl and (Ph3P)2Pt(CN)X: the analogous reaction with (Ph3P)2Pt(CNMe)2I+ gave (Ph3P)2Pt(CNMe)CNI, together with a small amount of (Ph3P)2Pt(CN)2.
