Biosynthesis of pyocyanin, a phenazine microbial metabolite

Abstract

Tracer experiments have shown that phenazine-1-carboxylic acid and its 5-methyl quaternary salt are incorporated into pyocyanin by Pseudomonas aeruginosa by decarboxylative hydroxylation.
