Remote sulphur participation in the solvolysis of endo-4-thiatricyclo[5,2,1,0]dec-8-yl p-nitrobenzoate

Abstract

endo-4-Thiatricyclo[5,2,1,0]dec-8-yl p-nitrobenzoate is solvolysed 752 times faster than endo-tricyclo[5,2,1,0]dec-8-yl p-nitrobenzoate and 955 times faster than exo-4-thiatricyclo[5,2,1,0]dec-8-yl p-nitrobenzoate; this rate enhancement has been attributed to remote sulphur participation.
