The reaction of stereoisomeric decahydroquinolin-8-ols with formaldehyde

Abstract

One isomer of decahydroquinolin-8-ol has been found to react with formaldehyde to give a perhydro-1,3,5-dioxazepino[6,7-i, 5,6-j]quinoline in contrast to the behaviour of a second isomer which reacts “normally” to give a perhydro-oxazolo[i,j]quinoline.
