A differential spectrophotometric method for the determination of Grignard reagent concentration
Abstract
The specific method for the determination of Grignard reagents is based on their reaction with an excess of acetophenone. The decrease in the absorbance of the latter at 243 nm, measured by differential spectrophotometry, is characteristic of the active Grignard reagent concentration and is not affected by the decomposition products of the Grignard reagents.
This method is suitable for determining all types of Grignard reagents.
