The gas-chromatographic determination of cyclohexylamine in blood as the trifluoroacetyl derivative

Abstract

A method is described for the determination of small concentrations of cyclohexylamine in blood. The procedure involves the conversion of cyclohexylamine into its trifluoroacetyl derivative after extraction from blood, followed by gas chromatography, with a flame ionisation detector. The trifluoroacetyl derivative has an increased gas-chromatographic response, and its stability enables the blood extracts to be concentrated to small volume, factors that facilitate the detection of cyclohexylamine in blood at levels down to 0·1 µg ml–1.
