Peptide kinetics. Part 8.—Acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of pentaglycine and hexaglycine
Abstract
A study of the acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of pentaglycine and hexaglycine is reported. Values of the first-order rate constants for some of the individual bonds have been determined at three temperatures and values of ΔH≠ and ΔS≠ calculated. The results, together with those for smaller glycine peptides, are discussed in terms of conformational changes along the series.
