Ionic mobilities and diffusion coefficients in the NaNO3+ CsNO3 system at 450°C

Abstract

The ionic mobilities and diffusion coefficients of 22Na and 137Cs have been measured by a paper electrophoresis method in molten mixtures of NaNO3 and CsNO3. Also the ionic mobility of the NO3-ion was calculated. At a mole fraction of 0.35 CsNO3 the mobilities of 22Na and 137Cs are equal. In CsNO3 the Cs+ ion has the higher mobility, in NaNO3 the Na+ ion. Friction co-efficients and diffusion potentials. are calculated.
