Cinnolines. Part XIII. Structure and reactions of the anhydro-base of 4-hydroxy-2-methylcinnolinium hydroxide

Abstract

1,3-Dipolar cycloaddition of dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate to the anhydro-base of 4-hydroxy-2-methylcinnolinium hydroxide is described. Alkylation of the anhydro-base with triethyloxonium fluoroborate give 4-ethoxy-2-methylcinnolinium fluoroborate and 1-methyl-4-cinnolone similarly gives 4-ethoxy-1-methyl-cinnolinium fluoroborate.
