Structure of hydrocyansalide and related 2,3-diaminobenzofurans

Abstract

Hydrocyansalide, the condensation product of salicylaldehyde, ammonia, and potassium cyanide, is shown from physical and chemical data to be 2,3-bis-salicylideneaminobenzofuran. Several derivatives of the previously unknown 2,3-diaminobenzofuran have been prepared and their properties are reported.
