A 1,2-elimination reaction of 2-chloroethyldipropylarsine

Abstract

Attempts to prepare water-soluble chelating agents containing arsenic (III) from 2-chloroethyldipropylarsine are described. in all cases dipropylarsinic acid is obtained as the major reaction product and ethylene is eliminated as a result of a 1,2-elimination reaction.
