Infrared absorption characteristics of some NN-disubstituted aminoketimines

Abstract

NN-Disubstituted 4-imino-3,3-diphenylhexylamines show characteristic absorption bands near 1630 (C[double bond, length as m-dash]N stretch) and 1715 cm.–1. The higher frequency bands, shown to be due to the imino-group by a deuteriation experiment, arise in the spectra of ketimines with a phenyl substituent α to the imine function, and are absent in those of simple dialkyl and diaryl derivatives.
