The ultraviolet and visible absorption spectra of some polysubstituted 1,4-naphthaquinones and 9,10-anthraquinones

Abstract

The u.v. and visible absorption spectra of a number of polysubstituted 1,4-naphthaquinones and 9,10-anthraquinones have been measured. It is shown that Dearman's disubstituted benzene model for 9,10-anthraquinone is equally applicable to the interpretation of the spectra of 1,4-naphthaquinones.
