The Mössbauer effect in tin(II) compounds. Part VI. Spectra of ternary tin(II) halides

Abstract

The ternary tin(II) halides SnXF (X = Cl, Br, I), SnlX (X = Cl, Br), Sn2XF3(X = Cl, I), Sn2BrCl3, and Sn3BrF5 and the ditin(II) isothiocyanate trihalides, Sn2NCSX3(X = F, Cl, Br, I) have been prepared and identified by their X-ray and 119Sn Mössbauer data. The Mössbauer parameters of these materials are interpreted in terms of the use of tin(II) bonding electrons and of the likely structures of the ternary compounds.
