Photocyclisation of tri- and tetra-phenylcyclopentenone derivatives

Abstract

The dioxen adducts obtained from the thermal reaction of o-chloranil and either tetracyclone or 2-methyl tricyclone have been photolysed in alcoholic solution to give cyclopentenophenanthrene derivatives.
