Dehydroxylation of microcrystalline muscovite. Kinetics, mechanism and energy change
The kinetics of the dehydroxylation of microcrystalline muscovite was studied in vacuo. The data led to the interpretation that the reaction rate is controlled by two-dimensional diffusion in the reacted product. The activation energy for the dehydroxylation was 54 kcal/mole at < 5 × 10–2 mm Hg. Specific heat capacity measurements gave the values of heat content change and entropy change due to dehydroxylation, 10.2 kcal/mole and 25.6 cal/deg. mole, respectively.
