Studies in polyelectrolytes. Part 2.—Predictability of the ionizing behaviour and secondary structures of some polypeptides containing L-glutamic acid

Abstract

The ionizing behaviour and the extent of the resulting conformational changes of the series of polymers containing L-glutamic acid described in part 1 are estimated by the model of Zimm and Rice suitably modified for our system. By a comparison between actuality and prediction the general suitability of the model is confirmed but suggestions as to its improvement are made.
