Ion molecule reactions in gaseous benzene, toluene and xylenes

Abstract

Ion molecule reactions in benzene, toluene and xylenes have been studied in the β ray ion source of a mass spectrometer, up to a pressure of about 0.1 torr. Disappearance rate constants have been measured for the primary ions. The dimer ions are the main products at the highest pressure investigated.
