Liquid-vapour equilibrium of the system nitrogen + argon at pressures up to 10 atm

Abstract

A static method has been used to determine vapour pressures and compositions of the system nitrogen + argon at pressures up to 10 atm. Equations expressing the variation of relative volatility and condensation pressure with temperature and composition are given for the range 80–105°K. The results have been tested for thermodynamic consistency and are compared with those of previous workers. Smoothed vapour pressures and excess free energies of mixing calculated from the data show reasonable agreement with the precise total pressure results of Pool et al. for the lower pressures.
