Studies on the possible interconversion of phenylhydrazones and phenylazoalkanes. Part IV. Studies in deuteriated solvents: mechanism of the interconversion of syn- and anti-acetaldehyde phenylhydrazone
Abstract
The deuterium exchange of aldehyde phenylhydrazones in neutral methan[2H]ol has been studied. No evidence was obtained to suggest that tautomeric equilibria exist with the corresponding phenylazoalkanes and ene-hydrazines. The implications of these results on the interconversion of syn- and anti-acetaldehyde phenylhydrazone are discussed.
