Synthesis and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of some square planar trifluoromethyldiphenylphosphine complexes of palladium and platinum

Abstract

Square planar complexes of palladium(II) and platinum(II) with trifluoromethyldiphenylphosphine have been synthesised in order to evaluate the large trans phosphorus–phosphorus coupling constant (1100 c./sec.). The variation in 19F n.m.r. parameters between the respective complexes is compared with that in related fluorophosphine and alkyl phosphine complexes.
